Hopefully everyone is starting to get their "formal" invites in the mail. WE ARE BOTH VERY EXCITED!!!

When people ask us when the wedding is, we can now reply... "Next Month."

How It Happened.....Oct. 2, 2006

It was our 1-year anniversary, he had flowers delivered to the school where I work, and took me out to a nice dinner. After dinner he suggested to return to the site where he had asked me to be his girlfriend a year before. So we did. Once there, he came around to my side of the car, and asked me “what now?” since it was late, and it was a Monday, I replied, we should go home. He smiled shook his head and said, ‘that’s not what I’m talking about’. Then he got down on one knee, pulled a ring box out of his sock, and asked me in Spanish, if I would him the honor of being his wife....once I was able to breathe and stopped crying, I said YES :)

How We Met....

As luck would have it we have yahoo personals to thank for our getting together. He had a profile, I had a profile. He emailed saying 'we have a lot in common'...I replied, and after a few more emails, and a few 'canceled meetings' we finally met up. We agreed to meet at Azteca's on Richmond, as usual, he was LATE, so I grabbed us a table and a margarita and waited. I was nervous and excited, once he got there, we sat for hours, talking about all sorts of things, family, school, friends, faith, everything. I think its safe to say, we both felt very comfortable. After that 'meeting' ended, we kept emailing, and I invited him out to hang with some friends for HH one day, he was only suppose to stay for about an hour, but we ended up closing the place down. After that, we started to see each other on a weekly basis, and within a month and half, he'd asked me to be his girlfriend, and a year after that, he asked me to be his wife :)

Memo to Mr. Gomez...

Dear Mr. Gomez...
I would like to know when you will be finding time to update your information on this page...or has this become a Mariely blogger page only???
I know you have a pretty busy schedule and are a busy man, but between Rocket games and breaking your glasses, I'm sure you can find some time to log on and update your information.

get on it!

So we've the Save the Date magnets for about a month now...we keep saying we're going to go ahead and mail those out. YEAH....not so much. Now granted, I have my list of address made up, and I have handed some to my mom's people at church. But to actually address envelopes, put postage and drop in mail...that I have not done yet. Now I am proud to say that I at least have my address list...Mr.Gomez...not so much....my goal for this weekend...TO GET THOSE MAGNETS MAILED!!!

ps...now I know my spelling leaves a lot to be desired...but come on! it took this blogger spell checker forever to give me the correct spelling for envelopes....either that or my original spelling was really really off! (I'm sure Virginia will get a kick from this....)

Discussion's on Potter and the Bachelorette Party...

So Virginia and I got together a few nights ago to chat and catch up on happenings in our lives. I am very happy to hear the Hero has FINALLY read all 6 HP books and has become a full pledged Pot Head, not to mention all the other snapping and happening things that are going on. So as the evening wore on, our topic of conversation landed on the bachelorette(according to webster.com this word is spelled correctly..)party. party. Now I had not given much thought to this...so when asked what I wanted to do, I was a bit stumped. So Virginia started suggestion things.....Clubs...eh...maybe it's my age, maybe its my inability to put up with stupid young drunk people...whatever it was I said nah...no club for us that night. She mentioned a going to a strip club...again, I said eh....I don't really care to pay to see some guy's wang-wang, and have it shoved in my face.. (May the future husband take note of this comment...and follow the example...titi bars...eh...).

So we began our list...and I kid you not, the one thing I did think of all on my own is to go around town and find all the STOP signs we can, and under each STOP write the word Voldemort...so the signs would read STOP VOLDEMORT!!! do i know how to have fun or what!!!
Needless to say Virginia looked at me like I was on CRAZY, but none the less it was added to our list. Now I can't go into much detail as to what the list holds...let's just say it'll be an interesting night for all involved.

Reception Hall

Well we did it! We finally put a deposit down on our reception hall. I am very happy to say we'll be having our reception at the Arabia Shrine Center :)

About Gomez...the man NOT the band......

The future hubby and his family are from Monterrey, they have lived in Houston for over twenty years. He has a younger sister, Monica, and a younger brother Diego.
Mauro attended U of H, and graduated with a Bacholer of Fine Arts and Graphic Communications. He currently works for a graphic design firm, Active Imagination.

I'm sure the future hubby will add more stuff when and IF he remembers too.....hehe
